The designated operators of Finland, Posti and Åland Post, ask us to inform other Union member countries and their designated operators that, owing to a lack of transport capacity, they are currently unable to transport outbound mail (letter-post, parcel-post and EMS items, as well as transit mail) to many Union member countries and their designated operators.
With effect from 18 March 2020, Posti and Åland Post will only be able to transport letter-post, parcel-post and EMS items destined for the countries listed below, with delays to be expected owing to limited capacity:
– All EU countries, with the exception of Cyprus, Greece, Ireland, Malta, Slovakia and Spain;
–Australia, Canada, China (People’s Rep.), Israel, Japan, Norway, Russian Federation, Serbia, Switzerland, United Kingdom and United States of America.
Posti and Åland Post are therefore declaring a situation of force majeure and suspending, with immediate effect, the acceptance of letter-post, parcel-post and EMS items destined for all other member countries until sufficient transport capacity becomes available. Transit mail, both open and closed, cannot be accepted to any destination country unless subject to a bilateral agreement.
Posti and Åland Post thank all Union member countries and their designated operators for their understanding. They will update them via EmIS once the situation returns to normal.
