The designated operator of Greece, Hellenic Post (ELTA), would like to update other Union member countries and their designated operators on its ability to send mail (letter- post and parcel-post items).
As from 30 March 2020, Hellenic Post will only be able to send, but with delays expected owing to limited capacity, letter-post and parcel-post items destined to:
–Europe (EU and non-EU countries): Albania, Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria (Rep.), Czech Rep., Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Great Britain, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Νorth Macedonia, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Sweden and Switzerland.
– Rest of the world: Canada, Japan and Qatar.
Hellenic Post is therefore declaring a situation of force majeure and suspending, with immediate effect, the acceptance of letter-post and parcel-post items destined to all other member countries until sufficient transport capacity becomes available. Transit mail, closed or open, cannot be accepted to any destination country unless bilaterally agreed upon.
Furthermore, and owing to quarantine cases, traffic disruption and restrictions, compulsory days off work for health reasons, all as consequences of COVID-19, Hellenic Post faces major difficulties in mail collection and delivery.
Hellenic Post thanks Union member countries and their designated operators for their understanding and cooperation. It will update them via EmIS once the situation has returned to normal.
